We've just been contacted by NBC news and their local affiliate here in Detroit to organize and fund raising concert for the victims of Huricane Katrina. Taking this to the next logical step with all of us here on Tribe. Why not expand this to a fund raising tour of independent musicians who are part of Tribe?
We understand that not everyone can travel, so we suggest using the CDBaby "TourBaby" model that we were a part of several years ago:
1) A band or artist in each host city would be in charge of obtaining a date, venue, local lineup, PA (if the venue doesn't have one)
2) Ideally, artists would share a backline show the changeover times are short between sets
3) We'd set up a route for the show (no overlapping dates) and help coordinate information (customizable posters, media contacts, etc)
4) One artists would be the "Tag" from the previous show to the next so that there's continuity from one show to the next.
5) Ideally, the shows would be scheduled on a Friday or Saturday to facilitate travel for the traveling "Tag" artist
We've found that 4 artists is an a good number of acts. Sample event schedule:
8:00pm-8:45pm: Local opening act
9:00pm-9:45pm: Tag artist
10:00pm-10:45pm: Local act
11:00pm-to close: Local headlining act
The show can be at any size venue. The key thing is:
1) We need to start this now
2) This tour needs to last a while because the people in the south are going to need our help for some time.

Sat, September 3, 2005 - 10:54 AMThank you for all of your help via tribe, E-mail, and phone calls.
The tour is really taking off. In less than 24 hours we went from nothing to many musicians and venues offering to help so far in Michigan, New York, and Illinois. This is a real testament to the generosity of everyday people.
This is all being coordinated through our tribe site musictour.tribe.net/ and the official tour site: www.MusicTourNetwork.com
We'll keep updating as more information comes in. -
