We're building a network of artists spanning from New York to California. Our initial goal is to find and work with artists who are able to host mid-size shows (100-500 person draw) in their home cities.
The benefit for all artists is a built-in audience in each city where we can promote each others music for a reasonable cost. It also helps to know a friendly group of folks in each city who can help with issues that tend to come up during a tour.
The key issues for teaming up with other artists are:
1) Finding high quality, reliable artists
2) Reasonably compatible music between the artists
3) Determining if the artist is able to regularly draw 100-500 people per show.
4) Are they able to provide a PA and backline (drums, amps, mics, monitors, etc.) so that a minimum amount of equipment needs to be transported by the traveling artist.
5) Does the total financial picture for the show make sense for both the home and traveling artist
6) Most importantly: Determining if we want to work together from a personality perspective.
Based on population and location, the initial cities that we've targeted are:
1) New York
2) Chicago
3) Philadelphia
4) Detroit
5) Indianapolis
6) Baltimore
7) Columbus (Ohio)
8) Boston
9) Washington D.C.
10) Cleveland

Wed, May 11, 2005 - 8:07 AMI'm not quite sure why I was invited in this tribe other than the fact that I'm a performing musician. I live in L.A. but I don't really have any plans of touring. Hell, I'd be happy just to tour this city alone! -

Re: The Plan
Thu, July 27, 2006 - 3:43 PMHow has you network building been going? There is a guy in the DC area, that is working on putting together a bellydance tour tageting 64 markets. He has done a great deal of leg work.
His name is Roger and he can be found on tribe at: people.tribe.net/roj. What kinds of acts? I know people in a lot of diverse locales, that all have the potential of being able to meet your goals. -
